Typical Health coinsurance covers most of medical expenses like room rent, doctor consultation charges,
nursing charges, operation theater charges, surgeon charges, anesthetic charges, equipment charges,
investigation charges, blood charges, equipment charges, medicine charges, pharmacy charges, some impecunious
charges ,ambulance charges arising out of 24 hours of hospitalizing upton the limit of sum insured opted under
the Health Insurance plan, it also covers 30 days pre hospitalizing expenses and 60 days post hospitalizing expenses. One can also go for an add on cover plan and take protection of critical illness cover, auto restoration of sum insured benefit, donor expense cover, hospital daily cash benefit , personal accident cover, maternity benefit cover, etc. With an additional premium.
Some health insurance plans also offers free medical check up , health return benefits max upto 30% of your paid
premium which one can use to pay future premium.
What else
As per the current Income Tax Act any person who is paying premium towards his /her self or family health insurance
and premium towards parents health coinsurance will get tax rebate under section 80 d.
